Greetings! My name is Christy Williams and I am thrilled to be your child’s grade four teacher this year.  This is the start of my seventeenth year with Rockyview Schools and my sixteenth year at Glenbow Elementary School.  I am also the mother of two wonderful girls in grade four and grade six.

This year we will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of interesting projects and activities and we will be working closely with the other grade four classes and other grades, as well.  I am very excited about the many upcoming adventures in learning and sharing that we will have together as a class.

Your child is strongly encouraged to bring a water bottle that she or he can take back and forth to school each day and that is spill proof.  Each child is required to have two pairs of shoes for school.  Their indoor pair of shoes will remain in the classroom and their outdoor pair will be to wear to and from school and for outdoor recess.  Each child is also asked to bring a box of tissues for the beginning of the year that will be put out as need for all the children to use.

On the first day of school we will meet your child in the classroom.  On September 13th, we will be having a BBQ at the school, which will give us an opportunity to touch base about Grade Four.  More information regarding the date and time of this event will be forthcoming.

At any time you are more than welcome to call (403-932-4922) or e-mail any questions or concerns that you might have about your child,  You will also be able to access our school website  Here you will be able to read the newsletters, curriculum focuses and much more on our school/teacher pages.  I look forward to a great year and working together with you to offer your child the best possible learning experience.

Yours truly,

Christy Williams

Parent Tips:

  1. Primary students benefit from of daily literacy practice (combined reading and sight word practice) at home.
  2. Fifteen to twenty minutes is appropriate for grade two.  It is important that the reading material is just right for them - try this rule of thumb:  if there are more than five words on a page the reader doesn't know, the level is too hard.
  3. Check out the Learn Alberta website for learning activities to do at home.
