Stuck on a Word?
Here are some strategies to help:
1. Look at the pictures to get an idea of what is happening in the story.
2. Go back and read again
3. Look at the word. Say the beginning sound and slide to the end.
4. Think about:
Does it make sense?
Does it look right?
Does it sound right?
5. Look for little words in side big words.
6. Skip the hard word and read to the end of the sentence.
7. Ask for help “Can you give me a hint?” “What is this word?”
