Greetings! My name is Christy Williams and I am thrilled to be your child’s grade four teacher this year.  This is the start of my twenty third year with Rockyview Schools and my twenty second year at Glenbow Elementary School.  I am also the mother of two wonderful girls, with my husband Ken. Our youngest daughter, Jayme is in grade ten and our oldest daughter, Mackenzie is in grade twelve and they are both attending Bow Valley High School.

This year we will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of interesting projects and activities and we will be working closely with the other grade four classes and other grades, as well.  I am very excited about the many upcoming adventures in learning and sharing that we will have together as a class.

Your child is strongly encouraged to bring a water bottle that she or he can take back and forth to school each day and that is spill proof.  Each child is required to have two pairs of shoes for school.  Their indoor pair of shoes will remain in the classroom and their outdoor pair will be to wear to and from school and for outdoor recess.  Each child is also asked to bring a box of tissues for the beginning of the year that will be put out as need for all the children to use.

At any time you are more than welcome to call (403-932-4922) or e-mail any questions or concerns that you might have about your child,  chwilliams@rockyview.ab.ca.  You will also be able to access our school website http://glenbow.rockyview.ab.ca.  Here you will be able to read the newsletters, curriculum focuses and much more on our school/teacher pages.  I look forward to a great year and working together with you to offer your child the best possible learning experience.

Yours truly,

Christy Williams

Parent Tips:

  1. Daily reading for twenty minutes is appropriate for grade four.  It is important that the reading material is just right for them - try this rule of thumb:  if there are more than five words on a page the reader doesn't know, the book is too hard, if there are no words they don't know, the book may be too easy.
  2. Check out the Learn Alberta website for learning activities to do at home.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with your questions or concerns.  Please contact me at chwilliams@rockyview.ab.ca or 403-932-4922.
