Fun Lunch this week:  Little Caesars

Thank you to all our families at this time!
It has certainly been a hectic couple of weeks as we have transitioned back to school.  There are quite a few illnesses going around and we do have a number of students and staff away.  We want to thank our families for using the Daily Health Checklists and keeping students home when they are ill.  We also want to thank you for coming so quickly to pick up your child when they are not feeling well.  We are so grateful to all our amazing Glenbow families!

Rapid Test Kits/Masks:   Unfortunately these have still not arrived at Glenbow.  Rockyview Schools is not in charge of the distribution of these items as they are being sent directly from the Alberta Government.  Please know that these will be sent out immediately once they are received as we know many of you were hoping to have them already.

Family Literacy Day - January 27th
Family Literacy Day takes place every January 27th to raise awareness about the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family. Since 1999, thousands of schools, libraries, literacy organizations and other community groups have taken part in the initiative. ABC creates free learning and promotional resources for anyone that wants to get involved. Taking time every day to read or do a learning activity with children is crucial to a child’s development, improving a child’s literacy skills dramatically, and can help a parent improve their skills as well.

The theme for this year's Family Literacy Day is Learning in the Great Outdoors!
Spending time in nature provides many benefits, not just for bodies, but for minds too. This year, get outside and exercise both your mind and body together as a family. You can make outdoor time fun family learning time all while enjoying the wonders of Canada’s Great Outdoors!

We have attached some fun activities you can do with your family in our Friday Weekly email.  We encourage you to take some pictures of your activities and share them on the Glenbow Facebook Page.  You can also email your pictures to glenbow@rockyview.ab.ca for us to share!

Kindergarten Registration Begins on Monday!

Kindergarten is an exciting milestone in the lives of children and their families. These early experiences set the foundation for lifelong learning and begin to build the skills children need to become confident, resilient and contributing members of the community.

Kindergarten eligibility established in the Education Act and subsequent Early Childhood Services Regulations requires students to turn five by December 31 of the school year they wish to begin Kindergarten. This means children born between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2017, can register for Kindergarten for the 2022/23 school year.

Before registering your child, please review the important documentation you'll need on hand.

Kindergarten registration for the 2022/23 school year opens Jan. 24, 2022.

Register Online

All registrations must be completed online.

New Families - To register a Kindergarten child who has never attended RVS, please create a new account via SchoolEngage at: https://rockyview.schoolengage.ca/

Please don't hesitate to reach out to the office if you have any questions.

Caution on walkways
It seems we are starting the freeze/thaw season a little early!  Please be cautious on the walkways around the school.  Mrs. Ireton is working hard to keep things sanded, but it is a big job.  If you happen to notice any spots we need to sand, please drop by the office or find a supervisor and we will address it right away.

Glenbow is a Nut Aware School
Please ensure that your child's lunches do not include nuts or nut products.  We have a number of students who have life threatening allergies.  This includes things like peanut butter and nutella.
