May is Asian Heritage Month

Asian Heritage Month is an opportunity for us to learn more about the many achievements and contributions of Canadians of Asian heritage who, throughout our history, have done so much to make Canada the country we know and love.

The theme for Asian Heritage Month 2022 is, “Continuing a legacy of greatness”. This month is a reminder for all Canadians to come together to combat anti-Asian racism and discrimination in all its forms.

Will you be moving out of the Glenbow School area next year??
If you are planning to move out of the Glenbow School area next year, please reach out to the office to let us know.  At this time of year, we begin looking ahead to our school structure and class configurations.  This is helpful information as it allows us to adjust our numbers when looking at forming our classes.
If you are moving, please give the office a call to let us know.
Illness and attendance at school
We have a number of little bugs going around so we are just sending a gentle reminder to be sure and keep your child home if you are ill.  We are still following the Daily Health Checklist when it comes to illness.  You can find the checklist here to help you determine if your child should come to school and your next steps if they are displaying any illness symptoms:  Daily Health Checklist
Dear RVS Parents/Guardians,

At Rocky View Schools (RVS), our purpose is to connect with all students to ensure that everyone learns, belongs, and succeeds. We believe this is a shared responsibility that requires engagement and strong partnerships with parents/guardians and all stakeholders. To help us ensure a system that is responsive to the needs of our students and school communities, we invite you to participate in an anonymous online survey.

Your survey feedback will provide us with valuable insight into how we are doing in achieving the goals and
outcomes of our system Education Plan (RVS Four-Year Plan). The overall results will be published in school workbooks and in RVS’ Annual Education Results Report. These reporting tools are designed to showcase how we are progressing and areas we can improve.

Included in this year’s survey are three open-ended questions designed to help the Board of Trustees understand your hopes for your children’s education and school experience and what parents, staff and students want RVS to focus on over the next four years. This feedback will help to develop a strategic plan that will guide the division and will also be valuable early input as we begin engagement on the next Education Plan. All parents/guardians, staff, students and community members are encouraged to share their feedback to ensure our plans reflect all voices and set the stage for success in advancing the division’s vision and purpose.

The survey is open from May 2 to 15. Please click on this link to complete the survey:

Survey Link

We strongly encourage you to complete the 10 to 15-minute survey (one for each child you have attending an RVS school). Students will be supported to complete the survey at school.

RVS is committed to a culture of continuous improvement and collective responsibility and we thank you for
considering providing your feedback! Please direct any questions about the survey to rvs@rockyview.ab.ca

Sincerely,
Fiona Gilbert, Board Chair

Kindergarten Registration is Underway!

Kindergarten is an exciting milestone in the lives of children and their families. These early experiences set the foundation for lifelong learning and begin to build the skills children need to become confident, resilient and contributing members of the community.

Kindergarten eligibility established in the Education Act and subsequent Early Childhood Services Regulations requires students to turn five by December 31 of the school year they wish to begin Kindergarten. This means children born between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2017, can register for Kindergarten for the 2022/23 school year.

Before registering your child, please review the important documentation you'll need on hand.

Kindergarten registration for the 2022/23 school year is open.

Register Online

All registrations must be completed online.

New Families - To register a Kindergarten child who has never attended RVS, please create a new account via SchoolEngage at: https://rockyview.schoolengage.ca/

Please don't hesitate to reach out to the office if you have any questions.
