Safe Arrival Update
At Rocky View Schools (RVS), the safety of our students is our priority. We use a reporting system called Safe Arrival to ensure we know where students are, when they will be absent and to communicate attendance to parents/legal guardians. We will be implementing some changes to enhance attendance tracking and communication of absences to parents/legal guardians starting April 17. Details about these important changes are outlined in a letter sent to parents/legal guardians, which can be found on rockyview.ab.ca. Questions can be directed to the school office.

Free Film in French: Tia and Piujuk April 21 4pm

In celebration of Canadian Film Day, Canadian Parents for French will be hosting a free showing of "Tia and Piujuk" in French at the Crowfoot Cineplex in Calgary on April 21st at 4pm.

Synopsis: Tia (Bshara) is a 10-year-old refugee from Syria, living in Montreal and struggling to make friends and feel comfortable in her new environment. While her parents are preoccupied with her mother’s pregnancy and the challenges of everyday life in a new place, Tia is left mostly to her own devices.

Everything changes when she discovers a magical portal that transports her to Igloolik, a community in the Arctic Circle. There she meets Piujuq (Tulugarjuk), an Inuk girl who she quickly forms a deep bond with in spite of their cultural differences. Through their friendship, the stories of Piujuq’s grandmother, and their wanderings across the striking northern landscape, the girls are immersed in Inuit myth and magic.

A heartwarming magical-realist fable about friendship and discovery, Tia and Piujuq is a delightful adventure for all ages.

Family friendly. See: https://tiaandpiujuq.com/home/ for trailer.

To confirm your spots, please book tickets at https://www.eventbrite.com/.../can-film-day-tia-and...

E-waste collection at Glenbow
Mark your calendar! On April 25-26 during Earth Week, Grade 4 Leadership is organizing a school wide electronics collection event. The purpose is to learn how to properly recycle e-waste. We will collect and record only small personal devices such as iPads, phones, laptops, small monitors.
Please send in your old/unused small devices to school and we will recycle them with the help from Quantum Lifecycle Partners LP.
Happy e-waste recycling!
Glenbow School Playground Fundraising
Glenbow School Council and Friends of Glenbow Education Society are in the process of raising the funds to build a new, fully inclusive and accessible, state of the art playground and outdoor classroom/learning space at Glenbow School.

Our goal is to raise $500,000 through fundraising, grants and donations by 2025. We are asking for the help of parents of Glenbow to spread the word and help us make this playground a success. If you work for a company or know of a company who would be interested in donating please send me an email at glenbow-schoolcouncil@rvschools.ab.ca.  Glenbow School is an amazing community and we are grateful for all your support.

Are you interested in being a volunteer reader?
We are looking for reading volunteers at Glenbow School! If you or a family member are interested in helping children to develop a love of reading, please reach out to our Assistant Principal, Mme Sarah, at scaldwell@rockyview.ab.ca. Volunteering to read with students is a great way to connect with our community and get to know our school outside of your child’s classroom.
We are a Nut Aware and Scent Free school.  This means we want to ensure that all lunch and snacks do not contain nuts.  We have a number of students with life threatening allergies.  This includes things like Nutella and Peanut Butter.  We also have students and staff with severe allergies to scents.  Please do not wear any perfumes or colognes if you are volunteering in the school.  Thanks for your understanding.
Please Drive Slowly in the School Zone!
As we get back to school, please ensure you are driving slowly through the school zone around Glenbow.  We want to ensure all students get to and from school safely each day!
No Parking or Walking in the Staff Parking Lot
This is a reminder that there is no parking in the staff parking lot before/after school.
We also ask that you do not walk through the parking lot at anytime.  It is a busy spot and we do not want anyone getting hurt.
Thanks for you cooperation.
