Fun Lunch on Monday is Montana's

Brett Binder Run/Walk Begins on Monday!

We are excited to share that our 15th annual Brett Binder Run/Walk will begin on Monday.  Brett was a former student who passed away at the age of 19.  One of Brett's fondest memories of Glenbow was the annual Run/Walk.  In 2007, the annual Run/Walk was renamed the Brett Binder Run/Walk.  Brett was a respectful, hardworking and courageous young boy/man.  This run/walk is a special way for us to remember Brett and the importance of being kind and working hard to be the best that you can be. We will start our day on Monday with an assembly at 8:15.  We will then head out for a 15 minute run/walk where students will collect popsicle sticks and chart their progress over the next two weeks.  Each day, parents are invited to join us for the run/walk.  You can join your child outside right away when we begin.
We are looking forward to this great event!!  This is also the 40th year Glenbow has done the Run/Walk event!

We Want Your Feedback!
You may have seen a note from your child's teacher regarding feedback for school goals.  We are beginning to plan for next year and have a short survey for parents to let us know what is going well and what we could work on as a school.  If you could take a few minutes to respond, we would really appreciate it.  Here is a link to the form:  Parent Feedback Survey
School Council and Friends of Glenbow Society Annual General Meetings
We will be hosting our final School Council meeting on Wednesday, June 14 at 6:30pm in the Learning Commons.  The Friends of Glenbow Society will also hold their final meeting at 7:30pm following the School Council meeting.
We hope you can join us!
Indigenous People's Week at Glenbow - June 19 - 23
We are working on our plans to celebrate Indigenous People's Week.  The week will include listening to Indigenous music and reading Indigenous books.  All our students will also have the opportunity to participate in a smudge.  We are also very excited to be hosting some special guests from Stoney Nakoda who will be sharing songs, drumming and dancing on June 20th at 1pm!
Fun Lunch Needs Your Help!!
The Fun Lunch program is in desperate need of volunteers. The program is 100% volunteer run through the School Council. We are looking for help on Mondays from approximately 10:45am-12pm to help sort and deliver food to classes. We are also looking for someone who can submit our orders to the vendors and type up labels weekly. If we do not get more volunteer help we will have to change how we run the fun lunch program which means a price increase for items. If you need to bring a child along with you, that is okay!  If you can help please email Amanda, our School Council Chair, at glenbow-schoolcouncil@rvschools.ab.ca

Glenbow School Playground Fundraising
Glenbow School Council and Friends of Glenbow Education Society are in the process of raising the funds to build a new, fully inclusive and accessible, state of the art playground and outdoor classroom/learning space at Glenbow School.

Our goal is to raise $500,000 through fundraising, grants and donations by 2025. We are asking for the help of parents of Glenbow to spread the word and help us make this playground a success. If you work for a company or know of a company who would be interested in donating please send me an email at glenbow-schoolcouncil@rvschools.ab.ca.  Glenbow School is an amazing community and we are grateful for all your support.

Discovery Trails Online School (formerly RVS Elementary/Middle Online) is now open for registration to all Grade 1 – 9 Rocky View Schools for 2023/24.

Students work from their own homes and are taught through a combination of real-time online video interaction and instruction, online activities/resources, pre-recorded videos and independent work.  Discovery Trails Online School (DTO) follows the regular Alberta Education Curriculum and students have access to the same learning support programs that are available to all RVS schools. Opt-in opportunities are also provided throughout the year for in-person activities and field trips.

RVS students can register for Discovery Trails Online School directly in SchoolEngage or visit our registration information. This includes information for families transferring into RVS for our online schools. Information for the online high school (Grade 10-12) can be found at Summit Trails Online High School.

We are a Nut Aware and Scent Free school.  This means we want to ensure that all lunch and snacks do not contain nuts.  We have a number of students with life threatening allergies.  This includes things like Nutella and Peanut Butter.  We also have students and staff with severe allergies to scents.  Please do not wear any perfumes or colognes if you are volunteering in the school.  Thanks for your understanding.
Please Drive Slowly in the School Zone!
As we get back to school, please ensure you are driving slowly through the school zone around Glenbow.  We want to ensure all students get to and from school safely each day!
No Parking or Walking in the Staff Parking Lot
This is a reminder that there is no parking in the staff parking lot before/after school.
We also ask that you do not walk through the parking lot at anytime.  It is a busy spot and we do not want anyone getting hurt.
Thanks for you cooperation.
