Glenbow School's Playground Fundraising Update
Glenbow School Council and Friends of Glenbow Education Society are in the process of raising the funds to build a new, fully inclusive and accessible, state of the art playground and outdoor classroom/learning space at Glenbow School.  We were thrilled to recently receive a donation from Cochrane Home Treasures for $20,000!  What a way to kick off our fundraising efforts.

Our goal is to raise $500,000 through fundraising, grants and donations by 2025. We are asking for the help of parents of Glenbow to spread the word and help us make this playground a success. If you work for a company or know of a company who would be interested in donating please send me an email at glenbow-schoolcouncil@rvschools.ab.ca.  Glenbow School is an amazing community and we are grateful for all your support.

Feed the Teachers
Glenbow School Council is organizing an event called “Feed The Teachers” to show our appreciation to our wonderful staff at Glenbow. This is a dinner for the staff served during both nights of student led conferences. We are looking for parent help to bring in food items for the two evenings. If you would like to contribute please email Amanda Heninger, the School Council Chair, at glenbow-schoolcouncil@rvschools.ab.ca. Thank you for your support!
French Culture Week Wraps Up!
It was a fabulous French Culture Week at Glenbow.  Students built an amazing ice castle in front of the school, learned about French music and culture, made sashes, and played voyageur games.  We also had an entertaining performance and maple taffy!  A huge thank you to all the volunteers that helped out this week and to our French Culture Week Committee for planning an awesome week of learning!
Student Celebration of Learning
We are looking forward to seeing families on Wednesday and Thursday next week for our Student Celebration of Learning.  Students will show you some of the amazing work they have been doing this year and it will be a time to celebrate their hard work!  Please be sure to sign up on School Conference Manager at Glenbow School Conference Manager.
Save the Date! - March 16th
Glenbow School Council and the Friends of Glenbow are excited to share that we will be hosting a Family Movie Night on Thursday, March 16th.  We will be showing DC League of Super Pets!  Doors will open at 5:45pm and our movie will start at 6:00pm.
Please RSVP on SchoolCash so we can plan for the evening.

Rocky View Schools welcomes your input as they decide which students will attend the school on Powell Street in Cochrane.

RVS re-acquired the school in September 2022 from the Calgary Catholic School Division which had operated the Holy Spirit School at this location for many years. The school currently has space for 330 students. It's in need of a little facelift - the plan is to welcome students in September 2023, once renovations approved by the Board of Trustees (the Board) are complete.

A number of options for the accommodation plan will be available on this webpage under Documents . Please note that a change to French Immersion is one of the options so it would be good for our FI families to have a look at what was presented.  Read them over and let RVS know what you think!

Extra Pants???
Do you have any pants that your son/daughter has outgrown?  We could use some spares here in the office for students who may have had accidents.  If you do, please have your child drop them off at the office.  Thanks!!
Grade 4 families - Alberta Assurance Survey
Packages for the Grade 4 Alberta Assurance Survey were sent out starting February 6th.  This survey provides feedback to schools on areas of strength and growth.  We use this information to help us plan our school improvement goals.
We are hoping that all grade 4 families will complete the survey.  It can be done on-line or returned via email.  Keep an eye out for the package coming from the Alberta Government with the survey.
The deadline for submission is now March 17th.

Footstock 2023

Register a team of three to participate as a family / group of friends or enter the Footstock Community Relay / Corporate Challenge and try to bring the Footstock trophy to your organisation. Are you interested in being a volunteer reader?
We are looking for reading volunteers at Glenbow School! If you or a family member are interested in helping children to develop a love of reading, please reach out to our Assistant Principal, Mme Sarah, at scaldwell@rockyview.ab.ca. Volunteering to read with students is a great way to connect with our community and get to know our school outside of your child’s classroom.
We are a Nut Aware and Scent Free school.  This means we want to ensure that all lunch and snacks do not contain nuts.  We have a number of students with life threatening allergies.  This includes things like Nutella and Peanut Butter.  We also have students and staff with severe allergies to scents.  Please do not wear any perfumes or colognes if you are volunteering in the school.  Thanks for your understanding.
Please Drive Slowly in the School Zone!
As we get back to school, please ensure you are driving slowly through the school zone around Glenbow.  We want to ensure all students get to and from school safely each day!
No Parking or Walking in the Staff Parking Lot
This is a reminder that there is no parking in the staff parking lot before/after school.
We also ask that you do not walk through the parking lot at anytime.  It is a busy spot and we do not want anyone getting hurt.
Thanks for you cooperation.
