Fun Lunch on Monday is Little Caesars
Please only send water with your child to school
Some students have been coming to school with drinks like this Prime Hydration drink.  The label on this drink says it is not intended for children.  We encourage all students to bring their reusable water bottles each day and do have a bottle filling station in the halls for them to refill.  Thanks for your support with this.

Garden Clean Up 2023

We need your help! Spring is in the air, and gardening is on our minds. Our beautiful Glenbow Community Gardens need some love and attention after a long Alberta winter.

On Tuesday, May 16 from 3:00pm until 6:00pm, we are requesting your help with cleaning up our gardens. Please feel free to come and help for whatever window of time you are available.  Our Garden Work Bee will include trimming around the beds, pulling weeds from perennial beds, turning soil, adding soil to some boxes, pulling raspberry canes and other general tidying up around the gardens. And, we will feed you!! At 5:00pm we will host a barbeque supper for everyone helping with the cleanup!

Who’s invited? Everyone is welcome, including children. By involving Glenbow families, we hope to increase awareness of our gardens, foster student and family interest in gardening and encourage students to take some ownership of the gardens. This could be the beginning of a lifelong passion!

Perhaps you haven’t had the chance to volunteer at your child’s school as much as you had hoped this year, so here is a great opportunity for you to connect with other families after your workday. Much of the work requires adult strength, and there will be smaller jobs the students can do. Someone will help you get started, so you don’t need to be an expert gardener to get involved! Please come and join us in the fun!

What to bring? We are in need of shovels, power trimmers (gas powered as we have no power outlet), wheelbarrows, and edgers.  Remember to bring your gardening gloves.

Please RSVP. Because we are planning a barbeque, we need to have some idea of numbers. Please let the office know, by replying to this email glenbow@rockyview.ab.ca , if you are willing to help. We would love your response by Friday, May 5.  Please include number of family members who will be attending.

Thank you so much for considering helping with the gardens. We truly appreciate all the help we can get!

Glenbow Birthday Celebration
Did you know that Glenbow turns 40 years old this year???  We will be celebrating our 40th birthday during the week of May 23 - 26.  We will have some fun activities happening that week for our staff and students including a good ole 80's Hot Dog day!   Glenbow will be hosting an Open House for families, friends and past students/staff on May 25th from 3:00 - 5:00pm.  It will be an opportunity to pop in and see the school and to check out some of the artifacts that we have saved from years past.
Please pass the Open House date along to any former Glenbow students or staff.
Safe Arrival Update
At Rocky View Schools (RVS), the safety of our students is our priority. We use a reporting system called Safe Arrival to ensure we know where students are, when they will be absent and to communicate attendance to parents/legal guardians. We will be implementing some changes to enhance attendance tracking and communication of absences to parents/legal guardians starting April 17. Details about these important changes are outlined in a letter sent to parents/legal guardians, which can be found on rockyview.ab.ca. Questions can be directed to the school office.
Glenbow School Playground Fundraising
Glenbow School Council and Friends of Glenbow Education Society are in the process of raising the funds to build a new, fully inclusive and accessible, state of the art playground and outdoor classroom/learning space at Glenbow School.

Our goal is to raise $500,000 through fundraising, grants and donations by 2025. We are asking for the help of parents of Glenbow to spread the word and help us make this playground a success. If you work for a company or know of a company who would be interested in donating please send me an email at glenbow-schoolcouncil@rvschools.ab.ca.  Glenbow School is an amazing community and we are grateful for all your support.

Are you interested in being a volunteer reader?
We are looking for reading volunteers at Glenbow School! If you or a family member are interested in helping children to develop a love of reading, please reach out to our Assistant Principal, Mme Sarah, at scaldwell@rockyview.ab.ca. Volunteering to read with students is a great way to connect with our community and get to know our school outside of your child’s classroom.
We are a Nut Aware and Scent Free school.  This means we want to ensure that all lunch and snacks do not contain nuts.  We have a number of students with life threatening allergies.  This includes things like Nutella and Peanut Butter.  We also have students and staff with severe allergies to scents.  Please do not wear any perfumes or colognes if you are volunteering in the school.  Thanks for your understanding.
Please Drive Slowly in the School Zone!
As we get back to school, please ensure you are driving slowly through the school zone around Glenbow.  We want to ensure all students get to and from school safely each day!
No Parking or Walking in the Staff Parking Lot
This is a reminder that there is no parking in the staff parking lot before/after school.
We also ask that you do not walk through the parking lot at anytime.  It is a busy spot and we do not want anyone getting hurt.
Thanks for you cooperation.
