Playground Build Update!!
Friends of Glenbow and the School Council are very excited to announce that the Cochrane Lions Club has pledged $45,000 towards our new playground build! We are blown away by their generosity and are very grateful for their support. With this new donation we have raised approximately $90,000 towards our $500,000 goal. Thank you to all who have offered their support!

Did you know that May is Asian Heritage Month?

Asian Heritage Month is an opportunity for us to learn more about the diverse culture and history of Asian communities in Canada, as well as to acknowledge the many achievements and contributions of people of Asian origin who, throughout our history, have done so much to make Canada the country we know and love.

The theme for Asian Heritage Month 2023 is “Stories of Determination”, which represents the strides made and the challenges overcome by Asian communities to thrive in Canada over the last 2 centuries and beyond. It is a history filled with hardship and setbacks, but ultimately, it is a story of triumph over adversity. This month is also a reminder for all of us to come together to combat anti-Asian racism and discrimination in all its forms.

RVS Education Plan Survey Is Open For Families
It is survey time again!  Glenbow School is encouraging all families to complete the RVS Education Plan Survey.  This survey provides important information for our school about our areas of strength and growth and gives us an opportunity to reflect and plan for next steps.  We take the time to review this survey data with our staff and it is valuable information for school improvement.

RVS’ Education Plan Survey is open May 1 – 17 through RVSEngage and we are asking all families to complete the anonymous 10-15 minute survey.
Thanks for your support!

Spring Garden Clean Up 2023

On Tuesday, May 16 from 3:00pm until 6:00pm.  Thank you to those who have volunteered to help with the clean up.   we are requesting your help with cleaning up our gardens.  Our Garden Work Bee will include trimming around the beds, pulling weeds from perennial beds, turning soil, adding soil to some boxes, pulling raspberry canes and other general tidying up around the gardens. Between 4:30 - 5:00pm we will host a barbeque supper for everyone helping with the cleanup!

What to bring? We are in need of shovels, power trimmers (gas powered as we have no power outlet), wheelbarrows, and edgers.  Remember to bring your gardening gloves.

Thank you so much for considering helping with the gardens. We truly appreciate all the help we can get!

Glenbow Birthday Celebration
Did you know that Glenbow turns 40 years old this year???  We will be celebrating our 40th birthday during the week of May 23 - 26.  We will have some fun activities happening that week for our staff and students including a good ole 80's Hot Dog day!   Glenbow will be hosting an Open House for families, friends and past students/staff on May 25th from 3:00 - 5:00pm.  It will be an opportunity to pop in and see the school and to check out some of the artifacts that we have saved from years past.
Please pass the Open House date along to any former Glenbow students or staff.
Volunteers Needed! We are looking for volunteers for the 80's Hot Dog Day.  If you can help out, please let us know.  You can email the office at glenbow@rockyview.ab.ca if you are able to help out at lunch.
80's Dress Up Day! - May 24th
We will be hosting a 40th birthday assembly for Glenbow School on May 24th.  Since the school was born in the 80's, we thought it would be a great day to do an 80's themed day.  Everyone is encouraged to dress up like it is 1983 again!!!
The routine preschool appointment is the last clinic appointment for your child with Public Health before transitioning into the school immunization program. Parents can book an appointment for your child's routine preschool immunizations by calling 811.
Glenbow School Playground Fundraising
Glenbow School Council and Friends of Glenbow Education Society are in the process of raising the funds to build a new, fully inclusive and accessible, state of the art playground and outdoor classroom/learning space at Glenbow School.

Our goal is to raise $500,000 through fundraising, grants and donations by 2025. We are asking for the help of parents of Glenbow to spread the word and help us make this playground a success. If you work for a company or know of a company who would be interested in donating please send me an email at glenbow-schoolcouncil@rvschools.ab.ca.  Glenbow School is an amazing community and we are grateful for all your support.

Are you interested in being a volunteer reader?
We are looking for reading volunteers at Glenbow School! If you or a family member are interested in helping children to develop a love of reading, please reach out to our Assistant Principal, Mme Sarah, at scaldwell@rockyview.ab.ca. Volunteering to read with students is a great way to connect with our community and get to know our school outside of your child’s classroom.
We are a Nut Aware and Scent Free school.  This means we want to ensure that all lunch and snacks do not contain nuts.  We have a number of students with life threatening allergies.  This includes things like Nutella and Peanut Butter.  We also have students and staff with severe allergies to scents.  Please do not wear any perfumes or colognes if you are volunteering in the school.  Thanks for your understanding.
Please Drive Slowly in the School Zone!
As we get back to school, please ensure you are driving slowly through the school zone around Glenbow.  We want to ensure all students get to and from school safely each day!
No Parking or Walking in the Staff Parking Lot
This is a reminder that there is no parking in the staff parking lot before/after school.
We also ask that you do not walk through the parking lot at anytime.  It is a busy spot and we do not want anyone getting hurt.
Thanks for you cooperation.
