Fun Lunch on Monday is Little Caesars
What a busy week at Glenbow!!!
It has been an amazing week at Glenbow.  We celebrated our 40th birthday with a number of activities including an assembly, museum, and hot dog day!  We celebrated like it was 1983 again!
Thank you to those families who helped out with our annual Spring Garden Clean Up.  It was a lot of work but we managed to get some things cleaned up in the community gardens.  All students will do some spring planting before the summer holiday to get ready for the fall harvest.  Thank you to the Rotary Club for donating some money to help with fencing our garden beds and to the Friends of Glenbow for sponsoring our barbecue for volunteers!

Playground Build Update!!
Friends of Glenbow and the School Council are very excited to announce that the Cochrane Lions Club has pledged $45,000 towards our new playground build! We are blown away by their generosity and are very grateful for their support. With this new donation we have raised approximately $90,000 towards our $500,000 goal. Thank you to all who have offered their support!
Glenbow School Playground Fundraising
Glenbow School Council and Friends of Glenbow Education Society are in the process of raising the funds to build a new, fully inclusive and accessible, state of the art playground and outdoor classroom/learning space at Glenbow School.

Our goal is to raise $500,000 through fundraising, grants and donations by 2025. We are asking for the help of parents of Glenbow to spread the word and help us make this playground a success. If you work for a company or know of a company who would be interested in donating please send me an email at glenbow-schoolcouncil@rvschools.ab.ca.  Glenbow School is an amazing community and we are grateful for all your support.

Discovery Trails Online School (formerly RVS Elementary/Middle Online) is now open for registration to all Grade 1 – 9 Rocky View Schools for 2023/24.

Students work from their own homes and are taught through a combination of real-time online video interaction and instruction, online activities/resources, pre-recorded videos and independent work.  Discovery Trails Online School (DTO) follows the regular Alberta Education Curriculum and students have access to the same learning support programs that are available to all RVS schools. Opt-in opportunities are also provided throughout the year for in-person activities and field trips.

RVS students can register for Discovery Trails Online School directly in SchoolEngage or visit our registration information. This includes information for families transferring into RVS for our online schools. For more information on schools and programming, please email discoverytrails@rockyview.ab.ca or call the school office at 403-945-4196.

Information for the online high school (Grade 10-12) can be found at Summit Trails Online High School.

Smoke and Indoor Recesses
We wanted to share with you the process for determining when schools will hold indoor recesses when the Air Quality index is high.  Rocky View School Division is using the Weather Canada app to make decisions around when to keep children inside.  Should the Air Quality Index be 7 or higher, students will remain inside for recess and other activities.
The routine preschool appointment is the last clinic appointment for your child with Public Health before transitioning into the school immunization program. Parents can book an appointment for your child's routine preschool immunizations by calling 811.

Footstock 2023
Footstock 2023 is set for Sunday, June 4th. The kids' triathlon is back for kids 15 and under. In addition, there are 5k, 10k, 18k races and our Footstock Relay. Register a team of three to participate as a family / group of friends or enter the Footstock Community Relay / Corporate Challenge and try to bring the Footstock trophy to your organisation. Find us at footstock.ca.

Are you interested in being a volunteer reader?
We are looking for reading volunteers at Glenbow School! If you or a family member are interested in helping children to develop a love of reading, please reach out to our Assistant Principal, Mme Sarah, at scaldwell@rockyview.ab.ca. Volunteering to read with students is a great way to connect with our community and get to know our school outside of your child’s classroom.
We are a Nut Aware and Scent Free school.  This means we want to ensure that all lunch and snacks do not contain nuts.  We have a number of students with life threatening allergies.  This includes things like Nutella and Peanut Butter.  We also have students and staff with severe allergies to scents.  Please do not wear any perfumes or colognes if you are volunteering in the school.  Thanks for your understanding.
Please Drive Slowly in the School Zone!
As we get back to school, please ensure you are driving slowly through the school zone around Glenbow.  We want to ensure all students get to and from school safely each day!
No Parking or Walking in the Staff Parking Lot
This is a reminder that there is no parking in the staff parking lot before/after school.
We also ask that you do not walk through the parking lot at anytime.  It is a busy spot and we do not want anyone getting hurt.
Thanks for you cooperation.
