Fun Lunch on Monday is Subway
Happy Diwali to our Glenbow families and friends who are celebrating!
Parent Log Ins - One Stop Shop!
We know there are multiple places for you to log in to the various RVS sites.  We have found a link that provides you with the different platforms where you may need to log in throughout the year.  This link contains the majority of digital sites that you will need throughout the year.  You can find it here:  Parent Links
We will always try and include new links here in the Gazette for you as well throughout the year as needed.  Thanks for your understanding as most things are moving on-line through digital access.  It is a shift that is easy for some and a little tricky for others.  Please don't hesitate to give us a call in the office if you need any support.
School Council Update
Hello Glenbow Families! As a School Council, we would like to bring to your attention the Stand for Education campaign that has been organized by the Alberta Teachers‘ Association (ATA) and the Alberta School Councils’ Association (ASCA). This campaign is focusing on bringing forward a vision for a strong and supportive public education system in Alberta that will benefit all students. With a provincial election coming very soon, the ATA and ASCA invite all parents, grandparents, teachers and any community members to attend a family-friendly rally for public education at the Alberta Legislature THIS Saturday, October 22 at 1pm. We have some of our wonderful Glenbow staff that will be attending! For more information about the campaign and to sign up for the rally go to www.standforeducation.ca (see poster below). Thank you for supporting our students!
A Note from Ms. Heschl-Ball
Hi Families,
Just a note to explain a bit about BAM for those new to the school or maybe your student doesn't like to share much of what goes on at Glenbow 🙃
BAM stands for Body and Mind. We talk about how we can control our body and how we respond to strong emotions instead of reacting to those strong emotions by controlling our mind. Most importantly we talk about helping our Amygdala learn what things are emergencies and what things aren't.
This week we watched a video from Cosmic Kids and the Zen Den about the Guard Dog (the Amygdala) and the Wise Owl (the Pre-Frontal Cortex), and yes, your kids learn the scientific names.

I've coached the students to take a deep breath after each count when using the "Magic Ten" strategy for calming down the Amygdala. Ask your student to teach you how. Hope you enjoy watching, and learning!!

Halloween Plans for October 31st!
Teams are beginning to make plans for October 31st.  Students are able to bring in prepackaged halloween treats if they choose (not required).  If there are treats brought in, they will be handed out in the afternoon before dismissal.  Students are free to bring costumes and they will put their costumes on after lunch.  Hallways will host their own halloween parade in the afternoon.  Your child's teacher may send out some more specific information shortly.
As we begin organizing our Remembrance Service, we invite you to send photos of family and/or friends who have served or are currently serving in the military.  When you submit your photo, please ensure you provide the following information:
- Name of the member
- Unit they served or are currently serving with
- Year of service
- Relation to your family (name of student and grade) and
- Any other pertinent information you would like to share.
If you have already shared these in past years with Ms. Gaudet, please do not send in again.

Please send your information to Ms. Gaudet by November 4th at agaudet@rockyview.ab.ca

Sorry for the mix up in last week's Gazette.  The assembly will be held on November 10 at 10:45am as November 11th is a holiday.
Save the Date!
Glenbow will be hosting in person Student Led 3 Way Conferences on November 16 and 17 from 3:30 - 6:30pm.  Conferences will be booked using the School Conference Manager and will open up for booking on November 9th at 8am.  You are encouraged to visit the Glenbow School Conference Manager to ensure your account is set up and ready to go for the booking day.  You can find the link here:  Conference Manager

Are you interested in being a volunteer reader?
We are looking for reading volunteers at Glenbow School! If you or a family member are interested in helping children to develop a love of reading, please reach out to our Assistant Principal, Mme Sarah, at scaldwell@rockyview.ab.ca. Volunteering to read with students is a great way to connect with our community and get to know our school outside of your child’s classroom.
We are a Nut Aware and Scent Free school.  This means we want to ensure that all lunch and snacks do not contain nuts.  We have a number of students with life threatening allergies.  This includes things like Nutella and Peanut Butter.  We also have students and staff with severe allergies to scents.  Please do not wear any perfumes or colognes if you are volunteering in the school.  Thanks for your understanding.
Please Drive Slowly in the School Zone!
As we get back to school, please ensure you are driving slowly through the school zone around Glenbow.  We want to ensure all students get to and from school safely each day!
No Parking or Walking in the Staff Parking Lot
This is a reminder that there is no parking in the staff parking lot before/after school.
We also ask that you do not walk through the parking lot at anytime.  It is a busy spot and we do not want anyone getting hurt.
Thanks for you cooperation.
