Fun Lunch on Monday is Taco Time
No school for students on September 30, October 7 and October 10.

Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

The day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.

Orange Shirt Day

Orange Shirt Day is an Indigenous-led grassroots commemorative day intended to raise awareness of the individual, family and community inter-generational impacts of residential schools, and to promote the concept of “Every Child Matters”.  The orange shirt is a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children over generations.

On September 30,  all Canadians are encouraged to wear orange to honour the thousands of Survivors of residential schools.

Are you interested in being a volunteer reader?
We are looking for reading volunteers at Glenbow School! If you or a family member are interested in helping children to develop a love of reading, please reach out to our Assistant Principal, Mme Sarah, at scaldwell@rockyview.ab.ca. Volunteering to read with students is a great way to connect with our community and get to know our school outside of your child’s classroom.
World Teachers Day on October 5th
A huge thank you to all the teachers and staff that influence and have a positive impact on our children each and every day.
Picture Day is Wednesday!
Lifetouch will be here on Wednesday for school pictures.
Stone Soup Day at Glenbow!
It's that time of year again.  Our classes will head out to the Glenbow Community Gardens and harvest the food that they planted in the spring.  On Thursday, each class will prepare a soup with their harvest.  Students are asked to bring in a spoon and bowl/cup.  The school always smells amazing on this day!!
Don't arrive too early or late!
Our relaxed entry begins at 7:55am which means the doors open at that time for students to enter the school and head to class.  We have had some students arriving quite early each morning and they have had to wait outside in the cooler weather.  It is best if they arrive at school close to 7:55am.
Our homeroom begins at 8:02 and our announcements begin right away after entry.  It is best for students to get here before our homeroom begins so they are settled and ready for learning.  Coming in late can be unsettling for some and we want all our students to have a great start.
Birthday Treats
We know birthdays are a special time for all and celebrating is a lot of fun.  With a number of dietary and food related allergies, we do not want food items brought in to celebrate birthdays.  There are many other ways to celebrate the special day without cupcakes or donuts.  Get creative and celebrate with non-food items for birthdays.  Remember that there is no expectation to bring things in on your child's birthday.  We celebrate each child's birthday at Glenbow by giving them a shout out in our morning announcements and giving them a birthday pencil.
Thanks for your understanding!
We are a Nut Aware and Scent Free school.  This means we want to ensure that all lunch and snacks do not contain nuts.  We have a number of students with life threatening allergies.  This includes things like Nutella and Peanut Butter.  We also have students and staff with severe allergies to scents.  Please do not wear any perfumes or colognes if you are volunteering in the school.  Thanks for your understanding.
Please Drive Slowly in the School Zone!
As we get back to school, please ensure you are driving slowly through the school zone around Glenbow.  We want to ensure all students get to and from school safely each day!
No Parking or Walking in the Staff Parking Lot
This is a reminder that there is no parking in the staff parking lot before/after school.
We also ask that you do not walk through the parking lot at anytime.  It is a busy spot and we do not want anyone getting hurt.
Thanks for you cooperation.
