Glenbow Terry Fox Run
Glenbow staff and students will be participating in our annual Terry Fox run on Friday, September 23rd.  We will have an assembly at 1:00pm.  Students will head outside at approximately 1:35pm to take a photo and do the run.  If you would like to join your child's class, all are welcome!
Students are encouraged to donate a Toonie for Terry through School Cash at rockyview.schoolcashonline.com. If you would like to make a larger donation and receive a tax receipt, please visit:

The Town of Cochrane Terry Fox Run is being held this Sunday.  Registration starts at 9am.  The official start time of the run is 10:00am.
Grade 2,3 and 4 Assessments
You may have heard that all students in Rockyview will begin the year with a few different standardized assessments.  Our grade 2 and 3 students will be completing the provincial literacy and numeracy assessments like they did last year.  Our grade 4 students are completing a numeracy screening assessment as well as benchmark reading assessments.  This data is useful to give us some baseline assessment information to start the year.  Teachers can use this information for their planning.  The information is not part of Real Time Reporting and won't impact a student's grade.  Our grade 1 students will participate in the literacy and numeracy assessments later in the year.
Birthday Treats
We know birthdays are a special time for all and celebrating is a lot of fun.  With a number of dietary and food related allergies, we do not want food items brought in to celebrate birthdays.  There are many other ways to celebrate the special day without cupcakes or donuts.  Get creative and celebrate with non-food items for birthdays.  Remember that there is no expectation to bring things in on your child's birthday.  We celebrate each child's birthday at Glenbow by giving them a shout out in our morning announcements and giving them a birthday pencil.
Thanks for your understanding!

We are a Nut Aware and Scent Free school.  This means we want to ensure that all lunch and snacks do not contain nuts.  We have a number of students with life threatening allergies.  This includes things like Nutella and Peanut Butter.  We also have students and staff with severe allergies to scents.  Please do not wear any perfumes or colognes if you are volunteering in the school.  Thanks for your understanding.
Please Drive Slowly in the School Zone!
As we get back to school, please ensure you are driving slowly through the school zone around Glenbow.  We want to ensure all students get to and from school safely each day!
No Parking or Walking in the Staff Parking Lot
This is a reminder that there is no parking in the staff parking lot before/after school.
We also ask that you do not walk through the parking lot at anytime.  It is a busy spot and we do not want anyone getting hurt.
Thanks for you cooperation.
Are you interested in volunteering this year?
Are you interested in volunteering at Glenbow this year?  If so, now would be a great time to get your Criminal Record Check done.  You can pop by the Glenbow office to pick up a form during the Open House or you can email us at glenbow@rockyview.ab.ca and we will send one along.  You will need to drop it off at the Cochrane RCMP office to get it processed.  This will save a lot of time and you will be able to volunteer much sooner with it already in place.
