Welcome back Glenbow students and families! We hope you had an amazing break! It has been a busy few days now that our office is open again after the summer break. We have had a number of new registrations and we are working on updating class lists, sorting out timetables and getting classrooms ready to go!
We are welcoming Mme Sarah Caldwell back to Glenbow this year as our Assistant Principal. Mme Sarah is joining us from Cochrane Christian Academy. We are thrilled to have her join and are also excited to share that Ms. Stefanato received a position as the Director of Indigenous Learning at Rockyview School Division. It is a position that is perfect for her!
Open House and BBQ
All families are invited to visit the school on Wednesday, August 31 from 1 - 2pm to check out the school, meet their teacher and see the classroom. Our School Council, Friends of Glenbow Society and the Rotary Club will also be hosting a hotdog bbq at the back of the school during this time.
Teachers will send a welcome email home on Tuesday afternoon introducing themselves. You will also be able to access powerschool later that afternoon.
Staggered Entry
This is just a reminder that we will have Staggered Entry to start the school year (Kindergarten families please see the email that was sent to you in June).
Thursday, September 1: All students with a surname that begins with A - K will attend
Friday, September 2: All students with a surname that begins with L - Z will attend
All students in grades 1 - 4 will begin school together on Tuesday, September 6th.
School Supplies
All school supplies are provided to our students. Families do need to provide a lunch kit, backpack non-marking indoor shoes (running shoes) and other personal items. Please be sure to label all clothing and gear. Students also need to wear outdoor shoes each day when they head outside for recess.
Powerschool Parent Portal and School Engage
The Powerschool Parent Portal is a web-based, student information system designed to provide parents with access to real time information pertaining to grades, assignments, attendance and more. Glenbow school staff update the portal regularly with student grades. It is important for you to check this often to see your child's progress. School Engage is used to keep your information up to date, and to provide consent to required authorization forms.

Are you new to riding the school bus this year? Check out this great new video from RVS to help prepare!
We are a Nut Aware school. This means we want to ensure that all lunch and snacks do not contain nuts. We have a number of students with life threatening allergies. This includes things like Nutella and Peanut Butter. Thanks for your understanding
Please Drive Slowly in the School Zone!
As we get back to school, please ensure you are driving slowly through the school zone around Glenbow. We want to ensure all students get to and from school safely each day!
No Parking or Walking in the Staff Parking Lot
This is a reminder that there is no parking in the staff parking lot before/after school.
We also ask that you do not walk through the parking lot at anytime. It is a busy spot and we do not want anyone getting hurt.

Attendance and Absence Line
Please call the school at 403-932-4922 before 8:15am or 12:15pm. if your child is going to be absent or late. You need to leave a message on the absence line providing the reason for absence. in the event that your child is absent and the school has not been notified, you will be contacted by our automated call out system. If your child is going to be away for several days, please let your child's teacher know as well.
Regular attendance is integral for student success. it is also important for students to arrive to school each day on time. Arriving late disrupts learning for your child and the class.
Are you interested in volunteering this year?
Are you interested in volunteering at Glenbow this year? If so, now would be a great time to get your Criminal Record Check done. You can pop by the Glenbow office to pick up a form during the Open House or you can email us at glenbow@rockyview.ab.ca and we will send one along. You will need to drop it off at the Cochrane RCMP office to get it processed. This will save a lot of time and you will be able to volunteer much sooner with it already in place.
