Fun Lunch on Monday is Subway
What a fabulous French Culture Week!
It has been a wonderful week of French celebration at Glenbow. A fun performance, ice wall building, maple taffy, sash making, and French Bingo were some of the fun activities that students had a chance to participate in. Our Voyageur Day has been rescheduled to next Friday due to the cold weather.
Celebration of Learning
Our March Student Celebration of Learning will be held on March 13 and 14 from 3:30 - 6:30pm. Families can sign up for a 30 minute slot through Conference Manager. Conference Manager will open for booking on March 6th at 3pm. You can find the link here: Conference Manager
We look forward to seeing you and celebrating all the hard work that your child has done this year at Glenbow!
Pack In and Pack Out Plastic Recyclables
We have had to make a change to our recycling program at Glenbow. We are encouraging students who bring in plastic recyclable containers to pack them out and recycle at home. We still have our compost program running which is collected each day by our grade 4 student leaders. Thank you very much for helping out with this new initiative.
Canadian Parents for French Self Guided French Lessons
CPF is offering 6 week self guided French lessons for those interested. It is a low cost program they have offered for 40 years. You can find out more information here: Canadian Parents for French. Classes begin on March 11.
Winterfest this weekend in Calgary
There is an excellent bilingual family event happening in Calgary this weekend. It is called Franco Winterfest and takes place on March 2nd and 3rd. Please see the attached poster for more information.
Pathways and Sidewalks are Slippery!
As we are now in the thick of winter, please be very careful walking around the school area. Sidewalks and pathways are very slippery. This is very noticeable after snowfall as it hides the ice very well! Please use caution walking around our school during the winter.
We know our afternoon kindergarten students enjoy sliding on the slope in front of the school before they head to class. Again, please use caution there as this is a very slippery area due to the drainage challenge in that area.
Glenbow School Playground Fundraising
Glenbow School Council and Friends of Glenbow Education Society are in the process of raising the funds to build a new, fully inclusive and accessible, state of the art playground and outdoor classroom/learning space at Glenbow School.
Our goal is to raise $500,000 through fundraising, grants and donations by 2025. We are asking for the help of parents of Glenbow to spread the word and help us make this playground a success. If you work for a company or know of a company who would be interested in donating please send me an email at glenbow-schoolcouncil@rvschools.ab.ca. Glenbow School is an amazing community and we are grateful for all your support.
Glenbow School Council and Friends of Glenbow Society
We are a Nut Aware and Scent Free school. This means we want to ensure that all lunch and snacks do not contain nuts. We have a number of students with life threatening allergies. This includes things like Nutella and Peanut Butter. We also have students and staff with severe allergies to scents. Please do not wear any perfumes or colognes if you are volunteering in the school. Thanks for your understanding.
Please Drive Slowly in the School Zone!
As we get back to school, please ensure you are driving slowly through the school zone around Glenbow. We want to ensure all students get to and from school safely each day!
No Parking or Walking in the Staff Parking Lot
This is a reminder that there is no parking in the staff parking lot before/after school.
We also ask that you do not walk through the parking lot at anytime. It is a busy spot and we do not want anyone getting hurt.
Thanks for you cooperation.
